On Leap Year Day 2012, at 1:55 pm Carrie Dahlby gave birth to Alexander David Rasey, 8 lbs 4 oz, 21 inches long. He has blonde hair, and Carrie says he looks just like his Daddy, Josh Rasey. Much congratulations and hugs to both of them. Back in my formative years as a comedy performer, I had two diametrically opposed schools of thought vying to influence me. The PG-rated ruled and structured improvisation club I worked at, versus the R-rated intentionally offensive dadaist anarchy that ensued when I filmed sketches privately with my close friends. This sketch explores the pros and cons of both, giving a loving hug and a middle finger simultaneously. When TV's Kyle read my old comic book parody of the Star Wars trilogy, he was astounded at my repeated use of the catch phrase from Robocop, "I'd buy that for a dollar!". This inspired him to want to write a song using that as the chorus hook, so he did with his Scooter Picnic partner Insane Ian, recruiting me to do the last verse to complete this trifecta of epic win! I was so busy preparing for MarsCon that I forgot to plug it on my mailing list while it was still a free download. Sorry, my bad. This podcast starts with a recording with Carrie, Josh, and Ken done on Carrie’s birthday (February 22nd) at Potbelly. It then time jumps to February 29th when I recorded an impromptu rest-of-the-podcast with special guest TV’s Kyle. This may come as a shock to you, but in this episode, Kyle and Luke talk about cartoons. Specifically, Kyle’s current and past experiences in the field of television animation production, and they rundown all the big cartoon movies of 2011. Also, with Leap Day 2012 being the 20th Anniversary of “Ray TV”, Luke talks about that for, like, an hour, which feels like another freakin’ Leap Year itself. It's been a few years, but I am finally returning to MarCon in Columbus! Also performing after an absence will be Tom Smith, which is appropriate because it's Easter weekend, and at MarCon they all treat him like he's Jesus Christ. In that analogy, I'm going to assume I'm Judas. So we need someone to be the rock in front of the tomb, so who better to bring the "rock" than Chris Mezzolesta of Power Salad? Chris is making his first ever appearance at MarCon, and along with me and Tom will doing a block of concerts on Sunday, making it the first ever FuMP Easter Special! Events are subject to change, but here's some of what I will be doing there that weekend:
