Every April 15th, Americans celebrate Tax Day. OK, maybe "celebrate" isn't the proper term. How 'bout "have our orifices despoiled by"? It's our deadline, anyway, to formally sign over to the Internal Revenue Service a growing percentage of our income so that we can build bridges in Alaska and burn them elsewhere on the planet.
This tribute to the IRS is a parody of the lovely Faith Hill's "This Kiss." Robert Lund originally recorded it with his own vocal; the also lovely Dr. Demento played that version on his pre-Tax Day shows in 2006 and 2007. For 2008, however, lyricist Spaff badgered Robert into redoing the song with a female vocalist - the also also lovely Michele Davis - figuring that listeners would prefer the "This" to be a female "This." Dr. D. must have agreed; this is the version he played on his most recent show.
Which brings us to the shameless plug. This is also the version of "Kiss This!" that appears on the newest Robert Lund CD, Politicked Off! It is, incidentally, the seventh song from the CD to appear on the Dr. Demento Show and the fourth to be featured here on The FuMP. So how much more convincing do you need? Buy the CD already. Our taxes ain't gonna pay themselves.
