Robert Lund and Spaff.com We Drank a Toast to Underpants
Mother's Day. A day of love, appreciation, honor, and alcohol-imbued bonus tracks from FuMP artists' archives.

So here you go. This Robert Lund song is a parody of "Same Old Lang Syne," Dan Fogelberg's melancholy 1981 hit about bumping into an old hookup in the fish sticks aisle at Piggly Wiggly.

M. Spaff Sumsion: Concept and lyrics
Robert Lund: All instruments, vocals, and production

Man, does that song paint a picture or what?!? Great parody, as always, guys!!!

Spaff: Do you talk to your mother with those lyrics? Robert: Do you serenade your mother with that kazoo? Is your kazoo metal? Please tell me it's metal! Of all the Mother's Day songs out there, yours is one of them. Good job, and thanks for parodying such a sappy song.

An oldie but a very good one. And excellent vocal work!

Ohhhh dear. This is disturbingly funny. I think Robert that you are going to spend a portion of your afterlife in someplace warm for writing and singing this song, ad the rest of us will be there next to you for listening to it and enjoying it. Do they make sunblock with a rating of Infinity?

Whoops, my apologies, I forgot to thanks Spaff as well. See you in the warm place too!

Dan Folgelberg with a Marty Feldman reference? Any day's a fine day with you two muthers! This has inspired me to start drinking before 8 AM.

Dan Fogelberg, who recently went to that big coffeehouse in the sky, was actually one of my favorite artists of the day, and it's too bad these cheesy ballads are what people will remember—he had a variety of country/pop tunes and some Neil Young-inspired rockers too. That said, this parody ranks in my top 5 favorite Spaff songs ever. It is such a dead-on slam of the original: the story details, the little ironies in each stanza. Here, it's like a page from some drug-fueled diary of Hunter S. Thompson or Sheryl Crow. Amazing work, guys.

Noticed Lund & Spaff are now credited together on the FuMP :) Great choice IMHO, as their careers have been so intertwined in the genre and I feel they deserve equal booking. :)

This song was also the #12 song of 2006 on the DT20, and if you listen, you can see why it ranked so high :) great song, guys!

Ahh, old school comedy coming back! That's good, I forgot this song existed for a few years... now it shall be on my iPod, great job.

Fogelicious. Best parody I've heard in a long while.
