Moneyshot Cosmonauts If I Could Be Weird Al
Hey, funny music fans: If you could be any recording artist, who would it be? Hint: He has long, dark, curly hair, a "Bedrock" song, and a brand-new album that drops today.

Unfortunately, we can't all be Lil Wayne.

So could we settle for being "Weird Al" Yankovic instead? YES WE COULD.

To prove that, here's a parody [naturally] of "Billionaire" as performed by Travie McCoy featuring Bruno Mars. It is crammed full of Weird Al references and is brought to you by this supergroup of Alcolytes:

Concept, lyrics, and talent wrangling: M. Spaff Sumsion
Instruments, mixing, and production: Bob Emmet
Singy vocals: Robert Lund
Rappy vocals [in order of appearance]: ShoEboX [of Worm Quartet], TV's Kyle, Tom Smith, Carrie Dahlby, Seamonkey, Jared Ringold [of Possible Oscar], Devo Spice, Spaff.com, the great Luke Ski, Jesse Smith [of Morning Sidekick], Dr. Milo T. Pinkerton III [of Consortium of Genius], Bill Dant, Steve Goodie, Insane Ian, and Jeff Reuben

Listen for cameos by Al's [and our] sensei, Dr. Demento, and Weird Al himself, who said this about this assemblage: "I'm absolutely honored by this and they have my full approval. Please send along my sincere gratitude to Spaff and the gang!"

Back atcha, Al.

Spasiba, comrades!

Incidentally, this song was intended for the Weird Al tribute album Twenty-Six and a Half but showed up late for the party.

This song is now available on the following CDs:

Ok! So this is FINALLY gonna make us rich! The parodied song is "Billionaire" and it's about Weird Al, the only true money-maker in this biz! Now let me check my FuMP account for all that sweet, sweet cash... aw nuts.

Spaff, can you buy my coffee this morning? Looks like I've gotta write some new songs...!

Sincerely though, thanks for including me! Now we all can say, Al cameo-ed on a song I was in!

This is amazing. Thanks for letting me be a part of it!

They warned us that if we kept using words like "awesome" and "epic" they wouldn't have the power to describe something really awesome and epic like this. Now back to my bowl of awesome corn flakes with epic milk.

"Awesome," "epic," "full of cheesy goodness," "intelligently designed," "mormon-esque," "medium-bodied," "pungent (in a good way)," "with a hint of celery," "nice to smell," "socially redeemable," "Lifetime Television-worthy." These are just a few of the adjectives (and modifying phrases) that come to mind when I eat corn flakes (and listen to this song). Thanks for making this happen Spaff and the Bobs! And thanks to Al for phoning it in! (for 30 years now) :)

This isn't as awesome or epic as We are the Fump but it's a close 2nd.

Ian: Thank YOU for being part of it. Your bit includes what is effectively a cover of the entire WAY song "Iguana" (and then some). So add that to your resume.

Rob: Awesome point. Epic comment.

Steve: Heh. In this case, Al actually did phone it in.

CaptNova: Your comment isn't as awesome or epic as those above it, but it's a close 5th and 6th.

We do have fun. :)

This came together epically awesome! Spaff, thanks again for bringing me into the project, I'm also thrilled to have been a part of it.

Tom: Indeed. For the record, you're a riot here too. (Not just in France.)

Jeff: Thanks for playing along. How many songs are there where your voice morphs into Dr. Demento's? I'm guessing fewer than a dozen or two.

Wow....just.....Wow. Speaking of late to the party, if'n only I hadn't been preocupado with personal-type crap in the timeframe this was being put together, as I was sposed to be on it, now I am sad Salad. But youse all did extremely Columbia - I mean, Epic jobs on this and certainly the coup of the century to get both Dr D AND Al to appear! Truly the apex of FuMPdom. Bravo! A&E!

Damn - 500th song, and now this. 2011 is the Year of the FuMP! Congratulations!!!
2011-06-21 garnsr
I just wish this hadn't been a parody of such a lousy song. The music is SO boring! This would have been better a capella. The rapping was surprisingly good from all the non-rappers.
2011-06-21 Spaff.com
Chris: Never fear. You're still, like, the moneyest of the Cosmonauts. ("You're so money and you don't even know it!") And right now I'm cooking up something Pink especially for you.

Jesse: I thought this was the year of the bunny. (But I suppose Hugh Hefner feels otherwise right now.) Thanks for your smirky, quirky vocals.

garnsr: "Billionaire" is boring?! I'll have you know that it went to #1 in the Netherlands! And it was covered on Glee! Which just goes to prove that...well...never mind.

At long last, the moment we all were waiting for: Spaff Sings!! We may now resume our comparatively hum-drum lives. Great job all around.

What no reference to You Dont Love Me Anymore, One More Minute or Gump? still 2nd best comedy song of the year behind "We Are The FUMP"
2011-06-21 Spaff.com
Adam: I enlist professionals like Robert Lund because what I do doesn't qualify as singing. Or, for that matter, rapping. But I do actually attempt to sing one or two lines on "We Are the FuMP." You've been warned.

chicagofan76: The one I most regret not finding a spot for is "It's Still Billy Joel to Me," my first favorite Al song.

2011-06-21 Insane Ian
Spaff, in your vocals on this, your voice sounds EXACTLY like Al's...disturbingly so.
2011-06-21 Carrie Dahlby
Thanks for including me!!! And for introducing me to "Billionaire", which I'd never heard but now LOVE.
2011-06-21 budsharpe
This is a wonderful song! Thanks for having me be part of it. I shall now consider any FuMP song that does not contain at least six other FuMP artists in supporting roles to be a failure. (not really)
2011-06-21 ProjectSisyphus
Yea Spaff, Robert and the FuMP Rap Crew! Can't wait 'till THIS goes #1 in the Netherlands!
2011-06-21 ProjectSisyphus
Connie says that's one of those Sex Farm Is #1 In Japan moments for you Spinal Tap fans...
2011-06-22 Spaff.com
Ian: Weird. No one's ever said a word like that to me before. Well, except "disturbingly."

Carrie: Thanks for getting Kinky with Yoda. And you're not alone in loving "Billionaire"; it went to #2 in both New Zealand and Poland!

Jared: I guess it really must suck to be a rock star like you. And, sincerely, I think the enduring legacy of the FuMP will be the collaborative relationships that have formed here.

Bob: Thanks for making this song go to eleven!

This is really well done. Nice job to all involved!
2011-06-22 mrwompy
Congratulations to all of you comedy music geniuses!! Great song!!!

I can't get over how awesome this is!

Thanx, Mike & mrwompy & xirkerate! If you like this, just wait until you hear Part Two!

I kid.

DAMMIT, SPAFF! THERE WAS 27 COMMENTS!
2011-06-24 Spaff.com
Hey Kyle. Weird. I left that last comment yesterday morning, and as of last night the main page still showed the song with 27 comments - a fact that was even brought up on last night's FuMP Podcast. Then I wake up this morning and it's at 28. The ghost of Wild Man Fischer must be messing with us or something.

Speaking of the podcast, I fumbled Devo Spice's question about the origin of this song, so I'll try again. My first idea was to fit the lyrics of "Dare to Be Stupid" to the music of "Nothin' on You" by B.o.B f/ Bruno Mars. I wasn't loving it, though, so I went with a different "featuring Bruno Mars" song and upped it from a single Weird Al song reference to a bunch of 'em. I'm glad I switched originals, because it turns out Al parodied "Nothin' on You" on Alpocalypse, and if I had parodied the same song as Al, I probably wouldn't have received the same level of support. I did manage to keep a couple of lines from the original concept; e.g., Luke's "Duh-Duh-Duh-Dare to be stupid" in the accordion break mimics "Nuh-Nuh-Nuh-Nothin' on you, babe."

2011-06-24 Spaff.com
It turns out the ghost in this machine isn't Wild Man Fischer - it's SEAMONKEY! Check it out: he posted a comment (the party-crashing #28) on 2011-06-24, but it showed up at the top, not the bottom, of the batch.

This confirms my suspicions: Seamonkey is, in fact, above us all.

Devo should just rig the site to make this one always say it has 27 comments.
