Song file name has a space in it, which breaks the download links and RSS feed. Bad OTM, no review (although I was able to stream the song and thought it was good :-)

1. The ant will never get to the other end. 2. Unsolvable given the present information. 3. 1:40PM. Train A travels 16.7 miles, and Train B travels 33.3 miles. 4. Not solvable without knowing the angle the ball was thrown. Up? Down? Horizontally? Depth of indentation is dependent on ground consistency. 5. Incorrect. 27 x 5280 / 4000 = 35.6

Oh, I was wrong about 1. The ant does make it, but as to how long, that may require calculus to figure out. And he makes it, even with the rubber band having a two yard lead.

ROCK ROCK ROCK ROCK ROCK!!!! or, ROCK(5)+!(3)=MATH

dino-mike - Nov 1, 2011

This is math-tastic!!!!

I click on the Download link and I get a b in file and not the mp3.

1. The ant doesn't make the end. The band snaps before he reaches half way. 2. 7 quarters saved. He'll need another seven per extra friend. 3. Max has this one right, but forgot that the accident will be near the Ivanhoe METRA station if it took the most-south route. 4. Insufficient data. Need angle and speed of throw. 5. Max also is correct here.

This is beautiful. It reminds me of the ACT and SAT and all that useless math crap. I'm in a College Calculus class right now and half the word-problems, despite what they say, will never aid me in my life.

Well, I assumed the typical infinitely elastic rubber band. Since the tinsel strength of the band is not given, we don't know if it will break or not. Also, the wording of 2 leaves open a lot. He starts with a total of 30 quarters. Now, does he spend $1.50 on lunch, or does he exchange it for a bottle of Jack Daniels? It isn't clear. Assuming the first, does he pay $2.50 or $2.00 for the field trip? That depends on if he pays a third of his original holdings, or a third of the remainder. I don't live near Chicago, so, I didn't forget, I just didn't know, and it depends on which track you take.

MATHEMATICAL!!! Awesome. Yes.

The8thHorcrux - Nov 5, 2011

I'm going to try and take on 2... 30 quarters. A fifth (6 quarters) pays for lunch and another third (10 quarters) pays for the field trip. This leaves 14 quarters. Half of 14 is 7, which is what he keeps, so I agree with STrRedWolf!

I have been wanting to get this song for years. Thanks for recording it. I remember spending an hour trying to solve the problems the first time hearing it at Dragon*con.

FinalstarmanDX - Nov 12, 2011

The one with the ball off the water tower sounds more like a pre-physics question

voiceroy - Nov 13, 2011

My head just essploded. Not a good song for a dyslexic, math-challenged person to listen to at 2am. And you guys were @ Dragon*Con? How'd I miss that?

Barnside - Nov 26, 2011

Eat your heart out Tom Lehrer .... oh wait, he's 83 and not performing. Not bad for the original geek!
