When Ookla the Mok set out to write and record a gentle lullabye to lull the world's children to peaceful sleep, they decided to spare no expense.
'Getting the elephants into the studio was a real challenge,' said Ookla's Rand Bellavia. 'And it's a pity that there's no way an audio recording can properly convey the beauty of the fireworks display.'
'We were adamant that we could get a much warmer sound by doubling the cannons,' added Ookla co-front man Adam English. 'Our engineer Doug insisted that we could save a tremendous amount of time and money by just firing off one cannon and recording it to a stereo track, but we 'stuck to our guns.'"
"Doug also thought it was a waste of time and money to fill the studio with all those clowns, mimes, and stilt-walkers," said Bellavia, "So what does he know?"
English concluded, "I think everyone will agree that it was totally worth the extra seventeen thousand dollars."
