At one time, the Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C. was a beautiful shade of blue/gray. Somehow, it changed its color, and green algae seemed to multiply… Yeah, it was pretty “weird,” “Weird Algae” to be specific.

Let me explain. One night, my musical pal Carla Ulbrich and I were commenting on Weird Al in a comedy chat, and Wallah! A cute comment on Weird Al that I had written in the chat had an immediate, ever-so-funny response by Carla answering me back with two clever words… “Weird Algae.”

My weird brain kicked in, and somehow I started humming a hit song of Cole Porter’s called “Anything Goes!“ So then I combined the two “Weird Algae Grows” with the hit tune “Anything Goes“
