Short version: Luke Ski
and Carrie
Dahlby return to the FuMP with a song parody tribute to
Cartoon Network's "Mighty
MagiSwords", created by TV's Kyle Carrozza! 'Tis a
triumph! Watch the show now on Cartoon Network, their website &
App, or on iTunes & Amazon!
Long version for
the uninitiated: Kyle A. Carrozza, known here at The Funny
Music Project (the FuMP .com)
and on "The Dr. Demento Show" as TV's Kyle,
prolific purveyor of silly songs, created an excellent animated
series for Cartoon Network, "Mighty MagiSwords". The show takes
place in a medieval-ish fantasy world centering around a pair of
siblings, Vambre and Prohyas, the "Warriors For Hire" who make a
living as mission-minded mercenaries. Aiding them in their many
quests are their favorite things to collect, their MagiSwords, which
are dozens of swords imbued with magical powers and can do anything
from summoning deluges of water, shooting gigantic tomatoes, or
clipping your fingernails.
Their adventures began in May of 2015 in micro-cartoons on the
Cartoon Network Anything App, as well as ten 3-minute-long shorts
posted at the Cartoon Network website and on their YouTube page.
From the moment I saw them, I instantly became a huge fan of the
show. To make a very long story short, in the following 6 months
Kyle got my foot in the door at Cartoon Network, eventually leading
to me becoming a storyboarder, writer, and voice-over actor on the
next orders of "Mighty MagiSwords" content. It was (and is) my
life-long-dream job on my new favorite animated show.
As MarsCon 2016 approached, Carrie Dahlby and I conspired to
surprise Kyle and his wife Lindsay (who also works on MagiSwords) by
not only showing up in costume as Vambre and Prohyas, but by also
performing a new song parody in tribute to "Mighty MagiSwords" in
character to kick off my Music Guest Of Honor concert. You can see
the video of this live surprise performance, complete with Kyle
& Lindsay's reactions, on my YouTube page.
The song, done to the tune of "The
Warrior" by Patty Smyth of Scandal, is based on the
first ten 3-minute long "Mighty MagiSwords" shorts released in 2015.
Yesterday, the full TV Series of "Mighty MagiSwords" premiered
on Cartoon Network with an episode storyboarded by myself and
Zoe Moss. To celebrate the occasion, and to help promote the show to
the full extent that I can to my fanbase ranging in the hundreds,
Carrie and I recorded the studio version of the song to post here
for you all to share and enjoy. The backing track music and final
mix were done by MagiMaestro, Jeff Dutton aka
Bonecage.
Thanks so much to Kyle, Lindsay, the powers that be at CN for giving
me a chance on the show, to Bonecage, and of course my partner in
clandestine spoofery, Carrie Dahlby. I hope you all will check out
"Mighty MagiSwords" and that you'll tell all your loves ones about
it.

I am very happy to have a studio version of this song. I was glad to be part of the audience at MarsCon who got surprised by this song's premier.

Let me get this straight. The version from the Kyle & Luke podcast was sung by Kyle and Lindsay but the one here and the video was done by you and Carrie; or did you and Carrie did all of the versions? Because it did sound like Kyle in the podcast.
lukeski - Sep 30, 2016
Luke and Carrie sang all the versions. :)
