I first heard this song on Jonah Knight's Exploration of Dangerous Places album... I'm not sure I've ever heard him play it live, though I'm probably wrong... He's a fantastic songwriter and performer. I've stole--er--borrowed from him multiple times (always with permission.) "King of Nebraska?" His. "Bacon and Beer?" His. So I got the idea of covering this song for the then-upcoming In Shadow EP, then I sent him an email asking if he'd mind if I covered it. He replied, "You know, I've always wondered what the third verse was..."
So here it is. As opposed to a third verse, per se, I added a bridge that I kept as lyrically in line with the tone and language of the song as possible, though it is patently a "Mikey" bridge (I love bridges in songs.)
I ultimately decided (against my initial instincts) not to include this on In Shadow when it was released in October of 2020, but it was just too good to hide away.

My favorite song of Mr Knight. I think it's the first song I heard him do live. A great start to a concert. I will sing it to myself in a bunch of old small towns. I also always wondered what the third verse was.

Nice - would make a good theme for "Courage the Cowardly Dog"
