In early 2025 Dr. Demento announced he was hanging up his top hat and retiring. He planned to do a series of retrospective shows, culminating in a Top 40 all time countdown in October, and then end the show. Join us as we say goodbye and thank you to Dr. Demento with this special release..
This 2-CD compilation contains songs in tribute to Dr. Demento, and covers of some of the most popular songs from the show's history. Power Salad covered the show's traditional theme song "Pico and Sepulveda." The Consortium of Genius covered one of the most popular songs of all time, "Dead Puppies." And all the performers from MarsCon 2023 covered "Fish Heads" during the Comedy Music Smackdown at the end of the weekend.
Robbie Ellis submitted two covers of Tom Lehrer songs from his performance with the Chicago Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, and we have two new covers of classic songs by "Weird Al" Yankovic. We also finally give an official release to Luke Ski's cover of "My Name is Not Merv Griffin."
MC Lars and the great Luke Ski teamed up once again for a follow-up to "Dementia Revolution," also included. Devo Spice tells his origin story in a new parody of an old Insane Clown Posse song. Tony Goldmark put together an epic parody of "American Pie." We've also got three songs by Dr. Demento's long-time sidekick Sulu, plus new tributes by Insane Ian, Mikey Mason, Lauren Mayer, Bad Beth and Beyond, Robert Lund and Spaff.com, and many more.
This album features over two hours of music on two CDs.
